What about clouds passing by?
What about using mirrors to redirect the sun. Perhaps a more clumsy solution.

What I would do, I would rotate the talent so the sun is just on her right so you still get that shadow and its not flat. But in this case it looks way off and backlit when it just wasnt in the previous shot
What about the other girls close-up? You shoot it in the same angel as the wide?
