Xenophage: Alien Bloodsport – Barney the Dinosaur was in an actual fighting game.

Game

Alright, so this is an Easter Egg from the now freeware 1995 DOS fighting game Xenophage: Alien Bloodsport, formely published by Apogee (now 3D Realms). Basically, the developpers seem to have hopped on the anti-Barney bandwagon of that time. Effectively, that means the lizard had another game, which happens to be superior to Barney’s Hide & Seek on the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive, technically speaking.

Yes, all he does is shoot hearts made of blood and get knocked down for the reast of the round after one hit. And sadly, you cannot perform a fatality on him.

And this video might as well be poetic vengeance against the monkeys who grounded my former account just for playing as a certain claymation arctic bird from Sweden.

Recorded with DOSBox v0.73.

And remember: I love you, he doesn’t!

  1. I immagen this is how gamers reacted to bob west's retirement from voicing barney because that's when the show basicly jumped the shark before contracting Cousin Oliver Sindrome 10 years later.

  2. The irony is Barney is a Joke Hidden Character that you can beat w/ a Full Health Bar

But if you play the Campaign w/ Barney the game Automatically lets you win every fight w/ Full health because its programmed to where it lets you play on Super Easy mode.

  3. Well, as if Barney needed to hant me more, the graphics of this game upgrade him to Uncanny Valley Nightmare Fuel. I know, I know, I'm a huge baby.

  4. (Part 2 of my split-up response) Anyway, you didn't write whether you've already set the character to being computer-controlled or not. If you've already tried that and it didn't work, I don't know how to fix it. The character cannot be player-controlled, it's NPC only, and as far as I know, that's the only problem I got when I tried it.

  5. It's been a while since I played the game, but upon seeing your comment I looked into it. To me it works if I (in the XPR.INI file), just like you tried, set Player2=Blarney. Though, I happen to remember that for it to work you must first, in the game, set the player 2 character to being computer controlled (in the free play settings) before you alter the .ini file, since the character can only be controlled by the computer. I'm out of space. I'll write a second reply with the rest of my answer.

  6. Can you help me? I changed "Player2=Bat" to "Player2=Blarney" but that didn't work, the characters I last chose for a fight are still selected. I'm using DOSBOX. Help?

  7. Isn't this always the way of life??? The more loving u r the more they kick u in the face and do damage to u….. Good game. Very realistic in a metiphorical sense as well as funny. XD

  8. The hearts do seem to take a lot of health though.

Is it even technicly possible to win with him I wonder ?

  9. I love to watch gameplays of bad games….
I dunno what it is, just something about bad games is entertaining.
